Question
: How do the different parts of the scanner work together to perform the overall function of the scanner?
Answer : There are two main parts to the hardware mechanism of a scanner, which are the feeder and the camera.
The feeder usually consists of the rollers and other parts that carry the paper through the unit, from the input to the output tray.
The camera(s) takes a picture of the page and, with the the help of the software driver for the particular scanner, the image is converted to a digital format.
The scanner itself is strictly for carrying the page through and taking the picture of the page.
The driver and the software used to scan perform the rest of the image saving, converting, processing, and clean-up.
