: Why won't my scanner work with Windows 2003 server?
Answer : Windows 2003 Server has the scanner service turned off by default, which prevents any scanner from working until it is turned on.
To turn on this service, go to the Start menu, select Administrative Tools and then Services. In the Services window that appears, scroll down to Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), right-click on it, and select Properties. In the General tab, change the Start type drop down from Disabled to Automatic and then click the Start button. Click Apply, which will then start the service.
