: The SimpleOCR freeware states in the first screen that one must close Windows and run InstSocr.exe from DOS. When I enter DOS on my computer, you can see the Windows Desktop behind the DOS mini screen. Have I closed Windows off enough to install the software?
Answer : You do not need to run the InstSocr.exe installer from DOS. You can just double-click on the installer and run it directly from Windows.
